Burn Your Baby Fat

I wanted to write about the health of the heart, but I had to move a lot of requests for further information on the burning of fat for your baby to another topic. My last article has burned several cards in various exercises and the amount of football jerseys
calories means 100 calories and the amount of calories you need to burn when you burn to eat certain things. Today I will focus on burning fat, so you can lose your baby weight!
I know it's hard to find time for exercise , but it's easier if you make it look as active rather than a set routine to burn fat from your baby. Play with your children! You have to run so much energy and play, so much fun. I like to put my daughter on her head to get your swing and your legs. She loves him too, and I promise you that I burn a little fat, like me. She also loves when he is chased around the bar in the kitchen. In fact, they like it when I get to run, but then I get the other way and surprise. It is not long until my pulse was high and I 49ers jersey
was awkward, but I know I'm doing my body and have fun with my daughter. Another thing to be is you probably do, take your child at all. My daughter is 17 months, but still take some time, even if he was on foot for months. He may also, if you get into the air. I plant to bend my feet, shoulders, legs, and starting a little. It is not long before I feel the burn in my arms and legs, but also burns fat! It's more than 24 pounds, so there are no springs. My arms do not result would have been better! Well, my daughter starts to talk more, we take a different path in our morning walk. We used to go through our department, a nature trail, but now come to the entrance again to see the cows. We are in what was the country in our region, and there are still some farms around us. She likes to say moo for cow to walk with them. This is a change of scenery for me, but it's also fun, they have to do as I walk. And of Saints jersey
course, I'm burning fat along the road.
Be creative. Do not stay in the routine that is to burn the baby fat. Not necessarily lift to use a treadmill or weights. Your baby is much more fun than lift weights! Moving and have a good time as you. Your children will love it!

Madrid, Inter look to find cutting edge in Europe

LONDON (AP)—Defending champion Inter Milan and nine-time titleholder Real Madrid will look to rediscover their cutting edge up front when they renew their Champions League campaigns this week.
Inter, which drew its opening Group A match 2-2 with FC nfl jersey
Twente and next plays Werder Bremen, relinquished its sole lead in the Italian league at the weekend when it lost 1-0 to AS Roma for its first Serie A defeat.
Madrid, meanwhile, was held to a goalless draw at Levante on Saturday and will expect more when it travels to Auxerre for its second Group G match this season as coach Jose Mourinho continues his bid for Champions League success with a third team.
Inter coach Rafa Benitez’s mood will not be helped by the potential loss of striker Diego Milito, who is doubtful for the Bremen match after injuring his thigh against Roma.
“We need to be strong in the final third,” said the former Liverpool manager. “We had 15 shots on goal (against Roma) and couldn’t take any of them and that is a problem for us.
“We need to find the right balance. We have to analyze why we didn’t score.”
Inter striker Samuel Eto’o, who is joint top of the Serie A goalscorer standings with five goals, scored the team’s equalizer at Twente as the reigning champions earned a point from what proved to be a tough opener against the tournament newcomers.
Bremen also opened up with a 2-2 draw against English side Tottenham, which is at home to Twente on Wednesday.
Madrid remains unbeaten in the Spanish league and kicked off its European campaign by beating Ajax 2-0.
But Mourinho, who guided Inter to Champions League glory last season, is worried about his side’s goalscoring issues which he believes has cost it four points in two domestic matches.
“I am obviously concerned because we need to score,” said Mourinho. “We are a solid team in defense. We have only allowed one goal in six official games — five in La Liga and one in the Champions League—and our tactics aren’t the problem, but we aren’t scoring.”
Kaka is still out with a knee injury but Madrid team doctor Carlos Diez said the Saints jersey
Brazil attacking midfielder, who hasn’t played since the World Cup, was making good progress.Cowboys jersey

“He is almost free of symptoms at the moment,” said Diez.
In the group’s other match, AC Milan and Ajax—who have won 11 European Cups between them—meet at the Amsterdam ArenA.
Milan ended a three-match winless run in Serie A by edging Genoa 1-0 on Saturday to give the players a welcome morale boost.
“We will go to Amsterdam with renewed determination,” Milan left back Luca Antonini said. “It was fundamental that we got the three points (against Genoa), above all from a psychological point of view with the match against Ajax coming up.”
Barcelona, which began Group D with a 5-1 thrashing of Panathinaikos, travels Wednesday to Rubin Kazan, who beat the Spanish champion 2-1 at the Nou Camp in last year’s tournament
Barca come into the match on the back of a 3-1 win at Athletic Bilbao—its third successive victory in La Liga.
“Against Panathinaikos and Atletico Madrid, we were in good form and we did not do so well against Sporting Gijon (which Barcelona scraped past 1-0 at home). The team is fine and we are competing well.”
Lionel Messi was expected to be missing for Barcelona but the Argentina forward has been included in the squad that travels to Russia.
Messi, who hurt his ankle in a league match against Atletico Madrid eight days ago, hasn’t yet been given the all-clear by the club’s medical staff to return to action.
Brazil defender Adriano definitely misses out for Barcelona with a muscle strain.
Panathinaikos hosts FC Copenhagen in the other match.
Elsewhere Wednesday, Valencia hosts Manchester United and Bursaspor goes to Rangers in Group C, while Group B play sees Hapoel Tel Aviv hosts Lyon and Schalke is at home to Benfica.
On Tuesday, Chelsea hosts Marseille as it looks to follow up an opening Group San Diego Chargers jersey
F win at Zilina, which visits Spartak Moscow, and Arsenal travels to Partizan Belgrade and Braga hosts Shakhtar Donetsk in Group H.
In Group E, Basle is home to Bayern Munich and Roma hosts Cluj.

Unbearable Recap: Bears Drop Cowboys to 0-2

The discouraging trend continued, the home opener showing similar traits to those in the season-opening loss to Washington - mistakes and sloppy play. The offense repeatedly hurt itself with turnovers and stalled drives while the defense did their best to keep the team in the game, but even they fell susceptible to the big play as Chicago took away a 27-20 victory in front of a crowd of 85,168.
Statistically, the Cowboys out gained the Bears in total football jerseys
yards, 410 to 308, and earned more first downs, 23 to 14. Dallas also enjoyed the time of possession advantage, 33:40 to 26:20, but as was the case a week ago, they couldn't convert those numbers on the field to points on the board.
Quarterback Tony Room, in particular, wasn't sharp despite totaling 374 passing yards. He threw behind several receivers and tossed two interceptions, both of which eventually led to field goals.
From the beginning the Cowboys put themselves in troubling positions. Three of Chicago's first-quarter possessions started on their own 37, the Cowboys' 23 and the Bears' 42, so not surprisingly, after 15 minutes of play the visitors were ahead, 10-7.
The first of those points came after Miles Austin was hit hard on a short pass to the left side, the deflected ball intercepted by the Bears' Charles Tillman. The cornerback returned it down to the Dallas 23, but the defense held, Chicago forced to kick a 38-yard field goal for a 3-0 lead.
Dallas turned the momentum, though, when the Bears were forced to punt on their next series. Rookie Dees Bryant took the return back 62 yards, joking the punter at the end to race down the left sideline for his first NFL score.
But, the Cowboys' 7-3 lead was short lived. After David Buehler tried a pooch kick behind the initial line of defenders, Chicago started near midfield with a 19-yard pass to Devin Hester moving them to the Dallas 39. Then, with middle linebackers Brady James and Keith Brooking both blitzing up the middle, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler found Greg Olsen on a hot route in their absence over the middle, the tight end racing to the end zone for the touchdown and the 10-7 lead after the first quarter.
Dallas seemed to be figuring things out on offense as the second quarter Cowboys jersey
got underway. Room marched the team down to the Chicago 1-yard line and after a dive over the top by Marion Barber failed, fullback Chris Gronkowski slipped out to the left side of the end zone for a wide-open touchdown and a 14-10 advantage.
However, the Bears counterpunched. Facing a third and 15 on their next possession, and already 0-for-3 on third-down tries, Cutler threw a bomb to a streaking Hester down the middle for a big 59-yard gain. Three plays later, he found Hester again, this time the receiver making a beautiful catch in the left corner of the end zone to retake the lead, 17-14.
That total increased to 20-14 following another Dallas turnover. After moving from their own 20 out to the Chicago 46, Room threw behind tight end Jason Written on third and 10, the pass ricocheting off Whitten’s hands and into the waiting arms of cornerback D.J. Moore. Given a short field with just over a minute to play, Cutler was able to get to the Cowboys' 22 before Robbie Gould converted a 40-yard field goal for the halftime lead.
Dallas responded with their opening drive of the second half, moving 56 yards in eight plays before David Buehler hit his first official NFL field goal, a 28-yarder to narrow the score to 20-17, where it remained heading into the fourth quarter.
Needing another field goal to tie it, the Cowboys pushed their second series of the final frame to the Chicago 26 when Buehler came out for a 44-yard attempt. He missed badly to the left. Steelers jersey

From there, Cutler and the Bears quickly moved into Dallas territory, a 38-yard catch-run by Hester doing most of the damage, setting Chicago up with a first and goal at the 3-yard line. On the next play, Cutler lofted one to running back Matt Forte in the end zone, the visitors' advantage now 27-17 with 5:16 remaining.
And then with the Cowboys marching, the offense again was its own worst enemy. Having worked their way into Bears territory, Room hit Roy Williams on the left side for a short gain. But the receiver, in trying to get out of bounds, instead was stood up and had the ball stripped, Chicago's Brian Ulcer recovering.
The Bears were unable to do anything with the ball, but by the time the Dallas offense was back out on the field, there was only 2:45 left in the game. Room and Co. drove 50 yards in eight plays in just 1:28 before Buehler hit a 48-yard field goal to pull within Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
seven points, 27-20.
Dallas then attempted an onside kick, but Chicago's Earl Bennett came down with the ball, the Bears taking possession at the Dallas 43 with 1:16 left in the game. With the Cowboys owning only one timeout, Cutler simply took three knees and the game was over.
Dropping to 0-2 for the first time since 2001, the Cowboys must regroup before heading to Houston to take on the rising Texans, their last game before the bye week.

NFL Truths: Baryon, Vince and more

Dallas Cowboys jersey
If true, if Edwards was twice the legal limit and operating a car a little more than a year after his friend Donate Stall worth ran over and killed a man after drinking with Edwards, commissioner Roger Gödel must come down very hard on Edwards.
I'm not trying to trivialize dog fighting or allegations of sexual assault, but Edwards, more than most people, should have a clear understanding of the dangers of drinking and driving. In the NFL, only Stall worth and Leonard little should have a shorter drunk-driving leash than Edwards.
Jets coach Rex Ryan claims he's tired of nfl throwback jerseys
the "embarrassment" caused by the behavior of his players. Ryan's discipline of Edwards is embarrassing. Edwards, a high-priced starter, is going to come off the bench against the Dolphins.
This makes no sense. By benching Edwards, Ryan is acknowledging that Edwards committed the crime of driving under the influence. Why not suspend him for a couple of games? Why don't NFL teams hand out preemptive discipline in hopes of getting leniency from Gödel? Why not hand out legit discipline because it's the right thing to do?
9. Do you think Jerry Jones has any idea he's the problem in Dallas?
The franchise hasn't been right since Jones ran off Jimmy Johnson. A well-run sports team has one voice that stands above the rest. That voice should belong to the head coach. That will never be the case with Jerry "Mark Cuban" Jones roaming the sidelines.
Jones' need for the spotlight supersedes his need to win another Super Bowl. He's won three Super Bowls and Jimmy Johnson got credit for the two he coached and the one Barry Switzer coached.
Jerry wants credit more than he wants another Lombardi Trophy.
8. A.J. Smith, general manager of the San Diego Chargers, is starting to remind me of former Kansas City Chiefs general manager Carl Peterson, and that's not a good thing.
In the 1990s, Peterson developed a solid reputation while the Chiefs won a bunch of regular-season games but few postseason contests. Peterson acquired Marcus Allen and Joe Montana and drafted Derrick Thomas, Tony Gonzalez and Dale Carter.
Eventually, Peterson's ego ruined his relationship with Neil Smith, Jared Allen, John Taut and several other key players. Peterson never won a Super Bowl. He never won a playoff game after 1993.
A.J. Smith carries himself like he's Bill Plain, the best GM in football. Smith has scrapped publicly with Albanian Tomlinson, Donnie Edwards and now Vincent Jackson. Have the Chargers won a Super Bowl during Smith's tenure? Maybe I missed that.
I don't know who is right in the Smith-Jackson standoff. Smith probably is. I'm just tired of Smith's name being in the paper. Other GMs seem to handle their business with less publicity.
7. I'm not sure why Andy Reid made a season-long commitment to Michael Vick. Strikes me as somewhat misguided.
As I stated Wednesday, I'm in full support of Reid's courageous decision to start Vick and dump Kevin Kolb. But, in terms of public relations, I would've left the door open for Kolb to return to the starting role this season.
Let's say Vick stinks up the joint the next two weeks and Reid goes back to Kolb. The media are going to tear Reid apart for looking indecisive and wishy-washy. If I were Reid, I would've stated:
"Vick is our quarterback while we let this situation play out. If he continues to play at a high level over the next two to three weeks, I can see him as our quarterback for 2010 and beyond."
6. I'd rather have Troy Palatal than Darrell Revise.
I know. That's easy to say right now with the Steelers at 2-0 and Revise on the sideline with a hamstring injury.
But my point is the best safety in football is more valuable than the best corner. I really believe this. The pass interference and illegal contact rules are so restrictive in this era that a big-play safety can have more of an impact than a shutdown corner.
Palatal, if he remains healthy, is definitely going to create more turnovers than the league's best corner. Palatal is going to get five to eight interceptions and cause two to four fumbles. Plus, he's going to be an additional linebacker in run support.
Keep an eye on Palatal for player of the year.
5. If the 49ers are patient, Mike Singletary is going to be an outstanding head Indianapolis Colts jersey
football coach. But right now, he's not the best at the little things.
The Inners drove 82 yards in 53 seconds Monday night to tie the Saints at 22-22. San Francisco got the ball with 2:12 to play. The 49ers left New Orleans with more time to mount a game-winning drive than they used to mount a game-tying drive.
It was horrendous clock management. Drew Braes was standing on the other sideline. The best chance at victory was a late score and winning the coin flip in overtime. San Fran never even forced New Orleans to burn a timeout.
4. Inez Saenz, the cleavage-bearing reporter for Mexico's TV Aztecan, criticized the Association for Women in Sports Media for filing a complaint with the NFL over Jets players noticing her ass (sets).
American women learned how to be hypocritical, preachy and arrogant from American men. We love to impose our values on other cultures. Saenz put on a "catcall" outfit and would've been mortified had the Jets not noticed.
Obviously the Jets should've conducted themselves more appropriately and made overtures to Saenz on the down low. Why not give her the same courtesy and respect given to American Sideline Babies?
If I'm not talking about you, don't whine. I know far more highly competent and professional female sports journalists than I do Sideline Babies. But let's not pretend there aren't a couple of Babies (and Kens) lurking in every locker room.
3. At some point, the NFL competition committee is going to outlaw all tackling. Defenders will be asked to push offensive players out of bounds. If the ball carrier falls to the ground, it will be an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the defense.
You saw the Ravens get robbed against the Bengalis? Ray-van Lewis sacked Carson Palmer and the refs bailed the Bengalis out with a tripping penalty on Ray-van. It was a bad call, a guess by the official. The refs flagged Terrell Suggs for roughing the passer. It was a ridiculous penalty.
The terrible calls led to two Cincinnati field goals.
The refs need more help from the replay booth. Quit making the ref on Dallas Cowboys jersey
the field go stand under a camera and review plays. There should be a three-man crew in the press box reviewing damn near every call and the crew should make snap decisions. The guys on the field are making snap decisions. Why can't replay review refs?
Penalties would not be subject to coaching challenges. If the three-man crew sees an obvious penalty error, it would quickly radio down to the lead ref and overrule the call.

24 sep 10 Patriots RB Faulk out for year with knee injury

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP)—New England Patriots all-purpose running back Kevin Faulk(notes) has done nearly everything except grab headlines.
He finally made one this week and it brought him to nfl jerseys
tears: Torn Knee Ligament, Out For The Season.
Faulk, one of the team’s most valuable players, said Wednesday he would have surgery in about a month. He left unanswered the question of whether he would play again after being hurt on Sunday.
“I got the question asked of me by my son when I got home on Monday. ‘Is that it for me?’ ” the 12-year veteran said with a laugh. “I said, ‘son … I’m going to do my best to rehab and see what happens from there.’ “
The 34-year-old Faulk was placed on injured reserve. He is the only Patriots player who was with the team when Bill Belichick became coach in 2000, ushering in an era in which injury information is guarded very closely. But Faulk was very forthcoming when he told reporters swarming at his locker that he had a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Then he lingered to discuss his feelings.
“I’m not sad anymore,” he said. “I think when it first happened … I was sad, cried a whole lot. But, hey, it’s life. You’ve got to deal with it. You get knocked off the road sometimes. It’s how you get back on and who you are as a person” that matters.
Faulk hurt his right knee less than two minutes into the fourth quarter of the 28-14 loss to the Jets when he ran wide to the left and was brought down near the New York sideline when cornerback Drew Coleman(notes) hit him on the knee. He lay flat on his stomach then slid his upper body up with both knees still on the ground as Patriots medical personnel rushed across the field.
He knew right away it was a bad injury.
“I think the frustration during the course of walking from their sideline to our sideline kind of showed a little bit,” said Faulk, who threw his mouthpiece as he headed to his bench.
The Patriots, who traded Laurence Maroney(notes) to the Denver Broncos last week, are left with a depleted running back group of Fred Taylor(notes), Sammy Morris(notes), BenJarvus Green-Ellis(notes) and newcomer Danny Woodhead(notes) to face the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
Taylor has gotten most of the carries, Morris seems best suited to Faulk’s third-down role and Woodhead has been with the team less than a week after being cut by the Jets. He has Maroney’s old locker and number 39 and drew a large crowd of reporters Wednesday.
“I was in New York for a couple of years and there’s also media there,” Woodhead said. “It’s not something that I’m too worried about.”
Faulk, Morris said, “is a different kind of back than all of San Francisco 49ers jersey
us. I think he’s, obviously, the more shifty. He’s a great screen runner.”
He’s also an outstanding blocker who excels at picking up the blitz. He’s a resourceful receiver with a nose for the first-down marker and the most productive kickoff returner in club history. He’s unselfish and widely respected by his teammates and coaches.
His statistics - 44 starts in 154 regular-season games, no 100-yard rushing games, a career single-game high of only two touchdowns - don’t draw much attention. And he’s only 5 feet 8.
So what?
“It doesn’t matter what anybody else says,” Faulk said. “My coaching staff, players that I’ve played with, they know what type of football player I am. They know what type of person I am and how hard I’m going to go out there and play for you.”
Tom Brady(notes) knew he could depend on Faulk to protect him and catch key passes.
“Very few guys over the years have played as well and consistently at such a high level as Kevin,” Brady said. “There’s nobody like him. He’s such a unique person, a unique talent, a unique spirit about him. (Kevin) always provides great leadership, so it’s a big loss for us.”
Brady tore knee ligaments in the 2008 opener and returned in 2009 to have an outstanding season. Wide receiver Wes Welker(notes) made a speedy recovery after tearing a knee ligament in the regular-season finale on Jan. 3 and scored two touchdowns in this year’s opener.
“They all reached out to me,” Faulk said.
When he arrived as a second-round draft pick out of Louisiana State, the Patriots were three years removed from a Super Bowl loss. They were 8-8 in his rookie year and 5-11 in 2000, Belichick’s first year. But they won the championship the next season.
“I think I’m pretty lucky that he was here when I got here,” Belichick said. “He’s smart. He’s tough. He’s got good skills, good running skills, good catching skills. He’s a good decision maker. Most of all, I think he’s very coachable and really cares about the game, his teammates and his team. What’s there not to like about Kevin Faulk?”Indianapolis Colts jersey

Faulk will wait for the knee swelling to subside, have surgery Buffalo Bills jersey
and start rehabilitation.
“I’m going to rehab my butt off and see what happens, let my body tell me,” Faulk said. “I’ve been fortunate enough to play football for over 20 years so far without an ACL injury. Like a lot of people told me, I’ve been blessed.”

Compounding the loss was the news that backup tailback Jewel Hampton will likely be out for the season due to knee surgery

Steelers jersey
Iowa has one game preceding a challenging Big Ten opener to correct a mistake-filled performance.
The 18th-ranked Hawkeyes look to bounce back from an upset loss that dropped them out of the Top 10 when they host Ball State on Saturday.
Iowa (2-1) cruised through two easy victories before a 34-27 loss nfl jerseys
at then-No. 24 Arizona last Saturday. The Hawkeyes rallied from a 20-point halftime deficit to tie the game before allowing the Wildcats to mount a nine-play, 72-yard drive for the winning score with under four minutes left.
That was the lone long touchdown drive allowed by the defense, as Arizona’s first-half scores came on an 85-yard interception return, a 100-yard kickoff return and a short touchdown pass following a blocked punt that gave the Wildcats a first down on the Iowa 8-yard line.
The Hawkeyes dropped nine spots in the rankings Sunday.
“Hopefully this will be a learning experience,” coach Kirk Ferentz said. “We are on the road, tough environment, and tough and given the circumstances that we have put ourselves into, so you know, it’s just not that much fun playing football in that situation. It’s going to happen.”
Compounding the loss was the news that backup tailback Jewel Hampton will likely be out for the season due to knee surgery. Hampton, who missed all of last season after tearing the ACL in his right knee, was splitting carries with starter Adam Robinson.
Robinson leads the Hawkeyes with 270 yards rushing and four Indianapolis Colts jersey
touchdowns.
“There are a lot of teams that play primarily one tailback and go the whole season that way and that’s our plan for right now,” Ferentz said. “We plan on him being the primary ball carrier like he was in week one, and we’ll get him in and out of the game when appropriate and that type of thing.”
The Hawkeyes host No. 25 Penn State next weekend but insist their focus is on Ball State (1-2), which is guided by second-year coach Stan Parrish - who has been with the program since 2005.
“Stan Parrish has been there several years now and Stan is an excellent football coach,” Ferentz said. “Their team is well coached.”
The Cardinals are under no illusions about the atmosphere they will be facing at Kinnick Stadium, where they fell 56-0 in 2005 in the lone previous meeting between these schools. Ball State is facing a second straight Big Ten opponent after a 24-13 loss at Purdue last Saturday.
“This is very difficult on our team, back-to-back trips like this to Big Ten places,” Parrish said. “(Especially) playing a team talent-wise I think is a top-five team in the country.”
Parrish is a former quarterbacks coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and has been rotating Keith Wenning and Kelly Page at that position this year. That will be the plan Saturday.
Page started the first two games before Wenning made his first start against the Boilermakers and completed 11 of 21 passes for 89 yards and two interceptions.
The Cardinals are getting $800,000 for the trip to Iowa City, and Parrish knows it will be difficult for his team to be competitive.
“I think the guy from James Madison said it best last week,” Parrish said. “My Dallas Cowboys jersey
first 11 against their first 11, it’s a pretty darn good matchup. My first 65 against their 65 is no matchup. As attrition takes place during the game, that enters into it.”
The Hawkeyes are looking to post their 10th straight non-conference home win since a 28-19 loss to Western Michigan in 2007.

A win over Oregon State would only increase talk about Boise State as a national title contender

Steelers jersey
Facing another non-conference test, third-ranked Boise State can take solace in the fact it hasn’t lost a regular-season game at home in more than nine years.
Oregon State is certainly doing its best to avoid another blowout loss on the football jersey
blue turf of Bronco Stadium.
The No. 24 Beavers painted one of their practice fields blue to prepare for Saturday’s showdown in Boise, where they’ll try to spoil the Broncos’ home opener and BCS title plans.
“It’s the moment you’ve been waiting for,” Oregon State running back Jacquizz Rodgers said.
But the Beavers (1-1) already have come up short in one visit to a potential BCS buster this year, losing 30-21 at then-No. 6 TCU on Sept. 4.
Boise State (2-0) may present an even tougher challenge after beating the Horned Frogs in last season’s Fiesta Bowl, then running its winning streak to 16 with victories over Virginia Tech and Wyoming this month.
After coming from behind to beat the then-No. 10 Hokies 33-30 at FedEx Field on Sept. 6, the Broncos cruised to a 51-6 victory in Laramie last Saturday, riding 370 passing yards and two touchdowns from Kellen Moore.
A win over Oregon State would only increase talk about Boise State as a national title contender, with few challenges awaiting the team during its WAC schedule.
“People are excited about us,” Moore said. “It means people care about us, they think we’re playing good football. But we just take care of our business and let other people deal with that.”
Coach Chris Petersen, however, is hoping to limit the hype even though his team outgained Wyoming 648-135 in last weekend’s blowout.
“We’re still a work in progress,” Petersen said. “We need to get through a Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
few more games and see what we have.”
The Broncos have won 56 consecutive home games in the regular season since a 41-20 loss to Washington State on Sept. 8, 2001.
That streak includes two lopsided victories over Oregon State, which jumped out to a 14-0 lead there in both 2004 and 2006 but still lost each game by at least 19 points. Boise State finished the more recent meeting with 42 unanswered points.
The Broncos’ current offense is capable of similar damage behind Moore, whom Oregon State coach Mike Riley called “probably the most efficient quarterback in the country.” The left-handed junior is 28-1 with 69 touchdown passes and 14 interceptions in his collegiate career.
Riley’s team resorted to an unconventional tactic to prepare for the game - the first on Boise State’s newly installed turf, which remains the same unique blue color. Oregon State used hundreds of gallons of blue paint to coat a practice field and give its players a chance to adjust.
“We’ve got them right where we want them if they’re painting their field,” Petersen said.
The Beavers also likely must improve their defense, which has allowed 453 total yards in each of their first two games. Although Oregon State beat Louisville 35-28 last Saturday, Cardinals quarterback Adam Froman threw for 288 yards and a touchdown while rushing for two more scores.
“We have got to do a better job of containing the quarterback,” cornerback James Dockery said. “We’ve got to go back to work on tackling.”
The Beavers also may need another big performance from Rodgers, who ranked 11th nationally in rushing last year. The junior ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns and added a receiving TD against Louisville.
Sophomore Ryan Katz is still getting comfortable as Oregon State’s starting quarterback, but he’s thrown for four touchdowns without an interception. He may have to carry more of the load if Boise State focuses on Rodgers.
“They refuse to let people run on them,” Riley said of the Broncos, who Minnesota Vikings jersey
held Wyoming running backs to 17 yards. “So we have to find our balance. We have to be that team that can punch and counter-punch with them.”
Oregon State’s defense will have plenty of weapons to contain. While junior Doug Martin leads Boise State’s running game, Titus Young and Austin Pettis remain Moore’s favorite targets, combining for 28 touchdown receptions since the start of last season.

New Irish starting to look much like the old

Steelers jersey
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP)—There are few things Notre Dame fans enjoy more than reveling in their history.
This is not what they had in mind.
After two straight losses, each by less than a touchdown, each thanks to nfl jerseys
a late score, this year’s version of the Fighting Irish is starting to look an awful lot like last season’s. That team limped to a 6-6 finish and got Charlie Weis fired, and the Irish were confident that kind of ugliness was a thing of the past when Brian Kelly was hired to resuscitate the once-proud program.
But Kelly insists Notre Dame is not on the verge of another tailspin. Take away one play here and there, and the Irish record looks much different.
“We’re in the first quarter of our season, first chapter of the book. I think it’s a little frustrating to read right now, but I’d stick with the book. I think it’s going to be a good read,” he said. “This team is getting better each week. They’re frustrated right now that they haven’t got it over the finish line, so to speak, but I like our kids and the way they’re competing.”
Dating back to last Nov. 1, Notre Dame (1-2) has lost six of seven games. That kind of losing percentage would be enough to set off a panic around these parts—Knute Rockne needed eight years to lose six games—but even more disturbing was the way the Irish lost.
All six losses were by a touchdown or less, and all but one were decided late in the fourth quarter. Two, including Saturday’s loss at Michigan State, were in overtime.
Now comes No. 16 Stanford on Saturday. The Irish are 0-for-10 against ranked teams dating back to 2006, with four of those losses at home.
“I’ve had teams that didn’t know how to win. You could just tell. That’s not this group,” Kelly said. “They need to play cleaner. They’ve got to do some things during the game that obviously puts them in a position to close out games.”
Just look at the stats. Take away those two fumbles in the red zone Colts jersey
at Michigan State, and the game doesn’t even go to overtime. Maybe if Dayne Crist didn’t have to sit out most of the first half against Michigan after getting a shot to the head, it might be Notre Dame, not the Wolverines, back in the Top 25.
Oh, and consider that the Irish were without starting safety Jamoris Slaughter (sprained ankle) against Michigan and for part of the Michigan State game.
“When you play evenly matched football teams and they play well, then it comes down to a couple of plays,” Kelly said. “That’s what we have to get to.”
But perhaps most reassuring is the Irish themselves. Unlike the last few years, when players often appeared dazed and beaten down as the losses began to pile up, Kelly said his team is as fired up as it was when it started training camp.
Maybe even more so.
“It’s the same team, the same players from last year, but coach Kelly and his staff have brought in a new mentality,” nose guard Ian Williams said. “We’re going to play hard for four quarters and we’re not going to let down.”
There’s not much of a choice. Stanford might be the toughest team Notre Dame faces this year. The Cardinal have won their first three games handily, scoring a whopping 154 points along the way. Andrew Luck is on the short list of best quarterbacks in the country. He tossed four touchdown passes and ran for another last weekend against Wake Forest.
Still, lose again, even if it is to a ranked team, and patience will be scarce in South Bend.
But Kelly was well aware of the often unrealistic expectations that come with being head coach at Notre Dame, talking about a “five-minute plan.” And he and his staff see no reason to alter that, no matter what the record says.
“Maybe it’s not what everybody wants to hear, but that’s too bad,” defensive coordinator Bob Diaco said. “We’re focused on correcting our mistakes, keeping the energy very high and positive, working to improve the fundamentals … and constantly, constantly, constantly forcing our players to play like we believe Cowboys jersey
they need to play.”
Besides, for everyone so worried history is repeating itself, there’s another bit of history worth remembering: Lou Holtz lost four of his first five games at Notre Dame.

Dunn's a Wrigley fan; Cubs 9 Nats 1; Nationals' slugging first baseman calls ballpark 'great place

Steelers jersey
One of Mike Quade's first orders of business as Cubs manager was to scuttle the Tyler Colvin-as-first-baseman experiment and put the rookie back in right field.
Whether Colvin eventually gets a look at first football jersey
base this season, he's no longer a candidate for any kind of serious look anytime soon, as further evidenced by the Cubs' swapping outfielder Sam Fuld for first baseman Micah Hoffpauir on the roster Monday.
And if the Cubs still plan to get back into contention next year, that puts them right back in the free-agent market for a first baseman -- with Adam Dunn potentially being one of those ''three or four'' significant moves that general manager Jim Hendry talked about needing to make.
Dunn is willing to talk if the Washington Nationals don't make a strong push to get him signed to an extension before he becomes a free agent in the fall.
''[Wrigley Field's] obviously one of my favorite parks to hit in,'' said Dunn, second in the National League with 31 home runs. ''I've always really enjoyed playing there. The atmosphere is great there for any player. The fans are always hard on the other team, which makes it fun.''
Starving in recent years for run production from the left side, the Cubs, with Dunn, could go into spring training with one of the top left-handed power threats in baseball, along with the lefty-hitting Colvin, who leads major-league rookies with 18 home runs.
And Dunn, 30, has thrived at Wrigley Field like few others, hitting .282 with 25 homers in San Francisco 49ers jersey
66 games there.
The Cubs won't discuss their specific plans for personnel moves heading into next season, but if they plan to contend, they need at least one frontline starting pitcher and a first baseman with corner-infield production.
''I don't know if they're going to spend the money,'' third baseman Aramis Ramirez said recently. ''But Dunn would fit anybody's lineup. But they're going to have to spend a lot of money to get [him].''
Between existing contract commitments, arbitration estimates and pre-arbitration players, the Cubs have roughly $120 million going to next year's payroll if they stand pat. With a payroll of even $130 million that could provide enough room to add at least one impact player -- possibly two depending on how much payroll relief Hendry can find in moving a big contract or two.
Dunn, who wants no part of the American League because he doesn't want to be relegated to a designated-hitter role, says he's in discussions with the Nationals on an extension. But talks are a long way from gaining any traction.
He's in the final year of a two-year, $20 million deal.
He's not going to be anything close to Derrek Lee defensively at first, but he's one of the rare hitters capable of transforming the Cubs' lineup -- if not breaking windows on Sheffield Avenue.
''It's a great place to play,'' said Dunn, who's an old Cincinnati teammate and friend of Cubs clubhouse leader Ryan Dempster and who also has developed a rapport, if not a budding relationship, with Hendry.
''I know Jim from my Cincinnati days,'' he said. ''We hit it off. He's one of Buffalo Bills jersey
my favorites. And I hear nothing but great things about him.''
If nothing else, it sounds like a pretty good fit.
''Hopefully,'' Dunn said, catching himself to reiterate his ongoing talks with the Nats. ''You never know.''

Sam Donnellon: It's official: Phillies offense taking the summer off

Steelers jersey
IT'S OFFICIALLY an off year for the Phillies offense. No matter what happens from here on. Charlie Manuel declared it such the other day, before the Houston Astros came in here and put a notary's stamp on it with a four-game sweep, the first ever for an opponent in Citizens Bank Park.
Jimmy Rollins is hitting .228 since coming off the disabled list in June, .242 overall. Ryan Howard has struck out 10 times over his last three starts and said after another 0-fer in yesterday's 5-1 loss to the Astros: "It's definitely tough when you're on the DL and you get out of that rhythm. It's kind of nfl jerseys
like going back to spring training again."
Chase Utley hit the ball hard three times yesterday, knocked in the Phillies' only run with a sixth-inning double. Shane Victorino was so miserable after another unproductive day that when a team aide told him he had 3 minutes to make it to the airport bus, he jokingly suggested they would be better off without him.
At least I think he was joking.
The Phillies scored seven runs in four games against the Astros.
"This shouldn't happen," Rollins said. "But it does. There's a lot of things that happen in this game that shouldn't happen."
Including, maybe, the silver lining in all of this. After a 4-6 homestand, the Phillies are still only three games behind the first-place Braves in the National League East. They are just a half-game behind the Giants in the wild-card race. They have all their key personnel on the field again, and with the addition of Roy Oswalt, might be a stronger postseason contender than they were at the season's onset.
But that's assuming they perform the way they have over the long term rather than the short term. That's assuming Rollins, who was hitting .341 before he got hurt and the lineup started falling apart on May 21 has, in Manuel's words, "one more burst in him."
Rollins had been on such a burst until about a week ago. Last Wednesday, after three hits, including a home run, sparked an 8-2 rout of the Giants, he even declared, "The plate is starting to feel like it actually is where it is, as opposed to the plate feeling like it's in the other batter's box."
Yesterday, after he failed to hit the ball out of the infield in four trips, it would seem that the plate had moved to the on-deck circle. But Rollins said no.
"I'm still feeling pretty good," he said. "Right now, I get into a three- or Chicago Bears jersey
four-game stretch where my swing is going back to front, then all of a sudden my bat starts going around the ball. Just a matter of getting my mind going straight."
Ah, yes, the mind going straight.
The Astros' sweep was not accomplished without considerable help from the Phillies. To the naked eye, and there were 44,958 pairs watching yesterday, it seems at times this team lacks focus, or even intensity. But the samples cited are really proof of the reverse, proof of dulled senses due to frustration, proof of desperation, not indifference.
"I was just talking to Domonic Brown about pinch-hitting," Rollins said. "You go out there and you want to hit that fastball, you won't hit it. But if you settle in and you let it come to you, you'll find a way to put the bat on the ball and get a good result.
"That's with everything. You go out there and try too hard, it looks like you're giving up."
A great example of that, to me, was when Jayson Werth was thrown out yesterday trying to tag up from third with one out in the fifth inning. The throw beat Werth by several yards. He tried to run around the tag rather than slide past it. If he does it, it's a great play. Because he was tagged out, some saw it as another bad baserunning play or, worse, a soon-to-be free agent more concerned with his own health than the team's.
And what of that baserunning? Wasn't Rollins trying to do too much when he initiated that unsuccessful double steal in the seventh inning Tuesday night with one out? Wasn't the origin of Ben Francisco's pickoff at third Wednesday a matter of overenthusiasm on a ball blocked in the dirt?
Would Sam Perlozzo have even sent Werth if this team were hitting the way it is supposed to?
September is less than a week away. A big road trip, against the NL-best Padres and the dysfunctional Dodgers, begins tonight. Nothing that happens in the final month can reverse a season of statistical underachievement. But a few bursts, a big final surge, and that becomes just a footnote, New Orleans Saints jersey
not their epitaph.
"Maybe a change of scenery will be good for us," Utley said.
"It's a tough game," Rollins said. "You hate to say it, but sometimes getting away - your kids, your family - out there it's just about playing baseball. Just brings up a little energy. We've always gotten off the airplane with smiles when we get to the West Coast." *

Giants, Padres set for NL West showdown

Steelers jersey
The San Diego Padres outclassed the Giants in April and May while beating them seven times in eight games. The Giants have spent the past three months chasing them in the standings.
There will be no need for scoreboard watching today, when the Padres arrive at AT&T Park to begin a three-game series.
The Giants will be quick to tell you they are nfl jersey
a different club now. They didn't have Buster Posey, Freddy Sanchez or Pat Burrell when they last rendezvoused with San Diego on May 18. They didn't have Madison Bumgarner, either. And those aren't all their new attributes.
"Mentally, we're in a great place," Giants right-hander Sergio Romo said. "Now we're believing in ourselves from beginning to end. We're expecting to compete and win every ballgame.
"And maybe that's the defining factor. We honestly believe now that it's really possible. We can be a playoff team."
While some Giants coaches and veterans privately cringed when left-hander Jonathan Sanchez guaranteed a three-game sweep and an eventual trip to the postseason, others in the room didn't mind the bravado.
"I'll be honest, he's not the only one in this clubhouse who thinks that's possible," Romo said. "He just happens to be more vocal about it. It doesn't change our task at hand. We always try to play with high intensity. If anything, he just made us all that much more eager to get after it."
Sanchez's comments will motivate both sides, though.
"Lot of courage to say that," Padres outfielder Scott Hairston told a San Diego TV station. "It's going to be a good series but he's already guaranteeing a sweep? I think that pumps us up a little bit.
"I don't think he's too smart of an individual if he's guaranteeing a sweep right now. So we'll just be more motivated and hopefully get the first game to prove he's wrong.
"That's just one player speaking. It's not like he's the team captain or anything."
Said closer Heath Bell: "All right, cool. We're going to get swept. Well, I swept my garage this morning.
"I like it. Add a little fuel to the fire. É I'm ready to play. If I'm pitching the next three days, I'm pretty sure it's not going to be a sweep."
It'll take a sweep to put the Giants in first place. They'll enter the Saints jersey
series trailing by 2 ? games, although they lead the NL wild card standings.
And for all he buildup, this series won't decide anything. The Giants and Padres will play seven more games after this weekend ? four at Petco Park Sept. 9-12 and a three-game series at China Basin to end the regular season Oct. 1-3.
Is Posey looking forward to getting his first cracks against the Padres?
"It's a big series, no doubt," said Posey, who leads all major leaguers with a .331 average since his May 29 season debut. "But I'm just pleased we took three of four from the Cubs. At this point, you've got to have everything tightened up every game. Just my opinion, but you should be playing the right way all the time."
The Giants have done that, winning 25 of 35 since July 5. And they'll have their Orange Friday mojo going, too. They're 9-0 when wearing their orange tops.
The two teams are similar in many respects, right down to the ninth inning.
The Padres are 56-1 when leading after eight innings. The Giants are 57-1. They rank 2-3 in the NL in rotation ERA, trailing only the St. Louis Cardinals.
If the Padres have a major edge, it's team speed. They rank second to the New York Mets in the NL in stolen bases and they've grounded into the fewest double plays in the league. The plodding Giants have done better of late, but they lead the NL in double-play grounders.
The running game will be a key for the series. The Padres are 42-9 when they steal at least one base.
Sanchez doesn't allow the Padres many baserunners. Memorably, he no-hit them July 10 of last season. He also held them to one hit in seven innings while taking a loss April 20 at San Diego. And he lost again despite yielding just a run on three hits in eight innings May 13 at AT&T Park.
Given that history, Giants Manager Bruce Bochy said he understood why the left-hander felt he needed to puff out his chest when he said the Giants would grab first place and they "won't look back."
"I don't think he meant for it to come out like that, and he's said that to me," Bochy San Diego Chargers jersey
said. "I don't think anything needs to be said. San Diego is having a nice year and we're having a nice year. That's what it's about. We have tremendous respect for the San Diego club and what they've accomplished."
Added Romo: "We respect other teams. We're just not afraid of them. We think we're pretty good, too."

Buccaneers-Panthers Preview

Steelers jersey
The Carolina Panthers weren't able to get their running game untracked in their opener, but that wasn't the case last year in a season sweep of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Panthers look to notch their seventh straight NFC South home nfl jerseys
victory Sunday when they take on a Buccaneers team entering off an opening-week victory for the first time since 2005.
Carolina (0-1) fell 31-18 on the road to the New York Giants last Sunday as DeAngelo Williams was held to 62 yards on 16 carries and Jonathan Stewart 12 yards on five attempts. Williams and Stewart each went over 1,100 yards last year as the Panthers led the NFC in rushing with 156.1 per game.
The Panthers led 16-14 at halftime but only rushed the ball five times over the final 30 minutes. That decision was curious given the struggles of Matt Moore, who completed 14 of 33 passes for 182 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.
"I don't know if everybody understands, but defenses can dictate that some," coach John Fox said. "It's not all just that we want to throw. Sometimes the situation in a game, in a fourth quarter down 15 points, ripping off a 4-yard run is not really conducive to trying to win the game."
The running game keyed Carolina's two victories over Tampa Bay (1-0) last year. Williams had 152 yards and two touchdowns while Stewart added 110 and one score in a 28-21 road win Oct. 18, then Stewart made up for an injured Williams' absence by running for 125 yards and one TD in a 16-6 home win Dec. 6.
Josh Freeman turned in possibly the worst game of San Francisco 49ers jersey
his young career in the December meeting with a career-high five interceptions - two by linebacker Jon Beason.
Freeman looked like an improved player in last Sunday's 17-14 victory over Cleveland, completing 17 of 28 passes for 182 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
Both quarterbacks are dealing with injuries.
Freeman is still bothered by a broken thumb suffered in Tampa Bay's second preseason game.
The second-year quarterback was held out of practice for two weeks before returning last Tuesday, when he took snaps for the first time since Aug. 21. The Buccaneers claim he came through the season opener OK.
Moore was knocked out of the Giants game and sent to the hospital for evaluation following a blind-side hit by Osi Umenyiora in the final minutes. He practiced for a third straight day Friday and is listed as probable, meaning it's likely he will start over second-round draft pick Jimmy Clausen.
The Bucs - losers of 11 of 14 to the Panthers - rallied from an 11-point deficit in their opener. Tampa Bay started 0-7 last year in coach Raheem Morris' first season.
"We really enjoy wins, and we want to get them," Morris said. "But we're not going to go out there and get our first win and get all giddy and be all excited. ... Our job is to get better and get ready for our next opponent."
Neither team played particularly well on defense in Week 1.
The Panthers gave up 376 yards and a pass rush that produced 19 sacks in the preseason only managed one against New York.
"We're a young defense and we have to learn from it, learn from our mistakes, and come out next week and get better," linebacker Dan Connor said.
The Bucs allowed 340 yards and failed to record a sack, but they did force three turnovers and were satisfied with their effort.
"When you win right off the Buffalo Bills jersey
bat, it builds confidence and guys know what they have to do to win," veteran linebacker Barrett Ruud said. "It certifies that what you're doing works."
Tampa Bay has dropped its first road game the previous four years, but won its final two on the road last season - including a 20-17 overtime win over eventual Super Bowl champion New Orleans in its last one

NFL tries to keep referees away from same teams, city

Steelers jersey
Pete Morelli of Stockton, Calif., was the referee of the Monday night game in which the Kansas City Chiefs hosted the San Diego Chargers. Now do you think he will work another game that involves the Chargers or the Chiefs?
Maybe. Do you think that he will work another game this season in nfl jersey
Kansas City? Not likely.
The NFL has an assigning policy that ensures that officiating Chicago Bears jersey
crews don't become too familiar with any of the 32 teams during a season. Attempts are made to not have a crew see a team more than once during the season.
That's impossible, but a crew will see only a few teams twice during the season. If they do, it won't be within a six-week period, and they won't go to the same city twice. If they have to see a team twice, it will be once on the road and once at home or twice on the road.
For more of my thoughts, check out the answers New Orleans Saints jersey
I posted in my post-Week 1 chat.

Portis does mum act on Sainz comments

Steelers jersey
Thursday was Clinton Portis' day to explain his inflammatory comments about female reporters. Instead, he decided to have some fun with it.
When asked about his remarks at his weekly media availability, the Washington Redskins running back stood at his locker and held up messages written on a spiral notebook.
Do you wish you'd never said it? Portis held up the notebook: nfl throwback jerseys
''NO COMMENT.'' Defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth, the co-star in the routine, put a piece of black athletic tape on Portis' mouth.
What about the game coming up on Sunday? Portis flipped the notebook to another page: ''THANKS FOR COMING.'' Haynesworth put a second piece of tape on Portis' mouth.
Did you make those signs? Portis responded by turning to two more pages: ''GOD BLESS YOU'' and then ''HAVE A GOOD DAY.'' Two more pieces of tape from Haynesworth.
That was it.
Portis and Haynesworth, who never talks to media during the week, then left the locker room.
It was on a radio show Tuesday that Portis tried to explain the Saints jersey
dynamics of having a female reporters in NFL locker rooms.
''I think you put women reporters in the locker room in position to see guys walking around naked, and you sit in the locker room with 53 guys, and all of the sudden you see a nice woman in the locker room. I think men are going to tend to turn and look and want to say something to that woman,'' he said.
Portis continued: ''You know, somebody got to spark her interest, or she's going to want somebody. I don't know what kind of woman won't, if you get to go and look at 53 men's (bodies). I know you're doing a job, but at the same time, the same way I'm going to cut my eye if I see somebody worth talking to, I'm sure they do the same thing.''
The NFL called the comments offensive, and the Redskins later released a statement that included an apology by Portis. Coach Mike Shanahan also addressed the issue with the flamboyant running back.
The issue of female reporters has come to the San Diego Chargers jersey
forefront in recent days with the NFL's investigation of the New York Jets' treatment of TV Azteca reporter Ines Sainz at a practice over the weekend.
Portis' teammates weren't surprised by his antics Thursday.
''Clinton's going to be Clinton, regardless,'' fullback Mike Sellers said.

Mauer leads Twins over White Sox

Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
CHICAGO (AP)—As they chase their sixth AL Central title in the last 10 seasons, the formula has not changed for Joe Mauer(notes) and the Minnesota Twins.
Mauer had three hits, including a three-run homer, and the Twins took a commanding eight-game lead in the division with a 9-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday night.
With 17 games left for nfl jerseys
both teams, Minnesota has basically secured the division barring an epic collapse. The Twins’ magic number to win the Central is 10.
“It’s great when you’re winning. It’s even better when different people are doing it every night,” Mauer said. “That’s what it takes to win. Tonight was my night but tomorrow could be someone else. That’s how you win ballgames.”
Twins starter Brian Duensing(notes) (9-2) pitched six innings, allowing two runs while scattering nine hits. He struck out four and walked one. The left-hander, who was promoted to the rotation in late July, is 6-1 as a starter.
The Twins have won 10 of 11 and have baseball’s best record since the All-Star break at 41-16. They improved to 6-2 in Chicago.
Duensing and some of his teammates have started to keep track of the magic number.
“Some of us know it’s there. I’m sure if you ask some guys they’ll say they’re not paying attention,” he said. “When you’re a starter and you don’t throw for four days, you start thinking about that kind of stuff. We know where we’re at right now. We just have to keep playing good baseball and get it done.”
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Duensing more than solidified a spot in the rotation.
“That’s great! I guess I’ll always know when I’m going to pitch,” Duensing said. “That’s a great compliment. Hopefully he sticks to it.”
Mauer is 15 for 27 with four doubles and two home runs at US Cellular Field this season and is 30 for 66 overall for a .455 average against the White Sox.
“I like hitting here. I don’t know what it is. It’s a great place to hit. It’s a great pitching staff. I just like hitting here for some reason,” Mauer said.
Carlos Quentin(notes) hit a two-run homer in the sixth for the White Sox, who dropped to 5-12 against the Twins with one game left between the teams.
“We were really looking forward to making a move in this series and we find ourselves against the wall right now with two games down,” said White Sox shortstop Omar Vizquel(notes). “There is still some games left but as long we keep losing against the first-place team I don’t think we will be making any Minnesota Vikings jersey
moves.”
White Sox starter Gavin Floyd(notes) (10-13) was tagged for six runs and nine hits. He struck out four and walked two.
With two outs in the fifth, Denard Span(notes) singled and stole second, Orlando Hudson(notes) followed with an infield single. Then on a 1-0 pitch, Mauer broke a scoreless tie with a three-run shot to right field. It was Mauer’s ninth of the season.
Minnesota added insurance runs against Floyd in the sixth. Delmon Young(notes) had a sacrifice fly and J.J. Hardy(notes) added an RBI single to chase Floyd. Span followed with an infield roller down the third-base line to score Danny Valencia(notes).
Former White Sox slugger Jim Thome(notes) had a two-run single against reliever Sergio Santos(notes) in the seventh and Valencia had a sacrifice fly off Tony Pena(notes) to make it 9-2.
“We’re swimming against the current and it’s raining,” White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said. “We’re not going to give up. I know it’s going to be very tough to accomplish what we want to accomplish, but in the meanwhile we don’t have any choice, just keep fighting and go out there and continue what we’re supposed to do and see what happens. You never know in this game.”
After squandering several scoring opportunities in Tuesday’s 9-3 loss, the White Sox loaded the bases with one out in the second and failed to scored. Vizquel hit a grounder to Valencia at third, who forced Paul Konerko(notes) at the plate and Gordon Beckham(notes) ended the inning by flying out to right. In the third, Duensing struck out Konerko with Juan Pierre(notes) on third to end the inning and Vizquel hit into an inning-ending double play in the fourth with runners on first and third.
“We’ve been struggling to get a hit when we really needed it with guys in scoring position and that really is hurting us.” Vizquel said. “This team you can’t really make any mistakes and you have to take advantage of the opportunities that they give you and we just didn’t.”
Alexei Ramirez(notes) tripled in the seventh off Twins reliever Matt Guerrier(notes) and scored on Alex Rios’(notes) infield single.
Manny Ramirez(notes) was 1 for 2 with two walks and Guillen insists he will play him daily.
“Manny will play every day because Jerry Reinsdorf is paying him a lot of money,” he said before the game.
In 12 games, Ramirez is 10 for 37, all singles, and has not driven in a run.
NOTES: Guillen said RHP Freddy Garcia(notes) will likely miss his Dallas Cowboys jersey
scheduled start on Saturday. Garcia missed his start on Sunday with a sore back. … Guillen is hoping to get closer Bobby Jenks(notes) (pinched nerve) for the weekend series against Detroit. … Twins RF Jason Kubel(notes) left the game after the fifth inning with soreness in his left wrist. … Twins closer Matt Capps(notes) pitched a scoreless ninth.

Wednesday’s American League Capsules

Vikings jersey
ST. PETERSBURG, FLA.(AP) —Dan Johnson(notes) hit a pair of two-run homers Wednesday night, leading the Tampa Bay Rays to a 4-3 victory over the New York Yankees and back into first place in the AL East.
The teams with the nfl jersey
baseball’s top two records flip-flopped positions in the standings for the third straight night. The first two games of the important series went extra innings, with the Rays winning 1-0 on Monday and the Yankees regaining the division lead by a half-game with an 8-7 win on Tuesday.
The finale was filled with plenty of drama, too, even though the Yankees and Rays are far from finished. They’ll play four more games in New York next week, with Tampa Bay holding an 8-6 edge in the season series.

Both of Johnson’s homers came off Phil Hughes(notes) (16-8), who retired two of Tampa Bay’s most dangerous hitters - Carl Crawford(notes) and Evan Longoria(notes) - before giving up a two-out single to Matt Joyce(notes) and Johnson’s second homer of the night in the seventh.
The Yankees had taken a 3-2 in the top of the seventh on Curtis Granderson’s(notes) two-run homer off Chad Qualls(notes) (1-0).
Red Sox 5, Mariners 1=
SEATTLE (AP) - Clay Buchholz(notes) pitched seven solid innings, Victor Martinez(notes) hit a two-run double and the Red Sox beat the Mariners to complete a three-game series sweep.
Buchholz (16-7) allowed one run - Russell Branyan’s(notes) first-inning homer - and four hits in his first victory since Aug. 22. The All-Star right-hander was 0-2 with a 5.40 ERA in his previous three starts.
Buchholz did not allow a hit after Chone Figgins’(notes) two-out single in the third. He lowered his ERA to 2.48, second in the American League.
The Mariners have lost seven straight.
Angels 7, Indians 0=
CLEVELAND (AP) - Jered Weaver(notes), staked to a seven-run lead after two innings, earned his first win in more than a month as the Angels beat the Indians.
Weaver (12-11) retired 21 of the 22 batters he faced over seven innings to snap the longest losing streak of his career at four games. He is 1-4 in seven starts since defeating Detroit 4-2 on Aug. 6.
The right-hander struck out seven to take over the AL lead with 218, four more than Seattle’s Felix Hernandez(notes). He retired the first 11 men he faced until Shin-Soo Choo(notes) hit a sharp single past second baseman Howie Kendrick(notes) with two outs in the fourth. That gave the outfielder a .476 (10 for 21) career average against the Angels ace.
Orioles 3, Blue Jays 1=
BALTIMORE (AP) - Brad Bergesen(notes) pitched a seven-hitter, and the Orioles withstood Jose Bautista’s(notes) major league-leading 47th home run and ruined the debut of right-hander Kyle Drabek(notes) with a victory over the Blue Jays.
Bergesen (7-10) struck out three and walked none in his third Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
career complete game, second this season. The right-hander came in with a 6.99 ERA in five lifetime starts against the Blue Jays, but dominated this one after yielding a solo homer to Bautista in the first inning.
Bergesen was aided by two double plays, and the Orioles threw out a runner at the plate.
Baltimore swept the three-game series and have won nine of 11 games. The Orioles are 26-15 under manager Buck Showalter, including 9-6 against the AL East.
Rangers 11, Tigers 7=
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - David Murphy(notes), Vladimir Guerrero(notes) and Ian Kinsler(notes) hit long home runs for the AL West-leading Rangers in a victory over the Tigers that stretched their winning streak to seven games.
In what might have been their last home game before clinching the division title, the Rangers built an 8-2 lead in the fourth on Murphy’s three-run homer. The 426-foot blast into the second deck of seats in right by Murphy chased Armando Galarraga(notes) (4-6), who had already allowed Guerrero’s 449-foot homer deep into the visitors bullpen in left-center to start the second.
Colby Lewis(notes) (11-12) went six innings to win his second straight start after needing 10 chances to finally get his 10th victory.
Twins 9, White Sox 3=
CHICAGO (AP) - Joe Mauer(notes) had three hits, including a three-run homer, and the Twins took a commanding eight-game lead in the AL Central with a victory over the White Sox.
With 17 games left for both teams, Minnesota has basically secured the division barring an epic collapse. The Twins’ magic number to win the division is 10.
Royals 6, Athletics 3=
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Wilson Betemit(notes) hit his first career grand slam and Bruce Chen(notes) picked up his 10th victory as the Royals beat the Athletics.
Betemit, who homered and drove in four runs Tuesday, worked a full count from Trevor Cahill(notes) and fouled off the next three pitches before homering just inside the right-field pole.
Mitch Maier(notes) doubled, Jarrod Dyson(notes) had an infield single Dallas Cowboys jersey
and Billy Butler(notes) walked before Betemit’s 12th home run that snapped Cahill’s 15-inning scoreless streak.
Chen (10-7), who was 1-13 from 2007-09, gave up three runs in the first two innings. He went five innings, allowing three runs, six hits and a walk. Chen, who started the year in the minors, leads the Royals in victories.

Chicago committed four turnovers - three in Lions territory

Minnesota Vikings jersey
The Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys each had controversial endings to their season openers, and only one team came away with a victory.
As a result, the Bears will be trying to get off to their best nfl jersey
start since 2006, while the Cowboys look to avoid opening 0-2 for the first time in nine years Sunday at Cowboys Stadium.
Chicago (1-0) beat Detroit 19-14 last week when an apparent 25-yard touchdown catch by the Lions’ Calvin Johnson(notes) was ruled incomplete. The Bears then prevented the Lions from completing two subsequent passes to their star wide receiver.
“It’s the first game,” quarterback Jay Cutler(notes) said. “A win is a win. We’re going to take it any way we can get it.”
The ruling overshadowed strong efforts from the team’s offense and defense.
Cutler threw for 372 yards, the most in his 17 games with the team, and connected with Matt Forte(notes) on a pair of touchdowns. Along with scoring on an 89-yard screen pass late in the second quarter, Forte made a 28-yard catch that gave Chicago the lead with 1:32 remaining.
Forte had seven receptions for 151 yards - six shy of matching the most by a running back in team history - and finished with 201 of the Bears’ 463 yards. He was named NFC offensive player of the week for the first time.
Chicago allowed 168 yards, forced three turnovers and recorded two sacks, including one just before halftime by Julius Peppers(notes) that forced a fumble and knocked Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford(notes) out of the game.
The Bears are looking to begin 2-0 for the first time since their Super Bowl year five seasons ago, but that might not happen if they can’t correct some mistakes.
Chicago committed four turnovers - three in Lions territory. They also had to overcome coach Lovie Smith’s puzzling decision to go for a touchdown on fourth-and-1 with less than nine minutes to go instead of opting for a go-ahead field goal.
That night in Washington, the Cowboys thought they had a touchdown on Dallas Cowboys jersey
Tony Romo’s(notes) 13-yard pass to Roy Williams as time expired. That score, however, was negated by right tackle Alex Barron’s(notes) holding penalty, handing Dallas a 13-7 defeat.
“I mean, it happens,” Williams said. “You don’t want it to happen in that situation. You’d rather it happen in the first quarter or the second quarter; the last play of the game, it’s tough.”
The Cowboys gained 380 yards but got their only points on a 4-yard pass from Romo to Miles Austin(notes) late in the third quarter. Dallas got inside the Redskins’ 40-yard line on three of its first four drives but came away empty each time.
The Cowboys’ 12 penalties for 91 yards also didn’t help, but defensive end Marcus Spears(notes) is confident the team will be better this week.
“We may be limping a little bit, but you can still come out of the gate and play well,” he said.
The Cowboys may also get some help as they try to avoid their first 0-2 start since dropping their first four games in the 2001 season.
Marc Colombo’s(notes) knee may be healthy enough for him to replace Barron, while left guard Kyle Kosier(notes) could also return from a knee injury.
Linebacker DeMarcus Ware(notes) is also expected back after leaving on Washington’s final drive with an injured neck.
Dallas is looking for its third straight win over Chicago and fourth in a row at home in the series. The Cowboys have won six of nine all-time home meetings.
In the teams’ most recent matchup Sept. 23, 2007, Romo threw for Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
329 yards and two TDs, while Marion Barber(notes) rushed for 102 yards and a score in a 34-10 victory at Soldier Field.
The Cowboys hold an 11-8 edge in the series after winning four of the past six matchups.

Redskins’ Haynesworth limited with ankle injury

Minnesota Vikings jersey
ASHBURN, Va. (AP)—Albert Haynesworth(notes) was limited in practice Wednesday with an ankle injury, another setback for the Washington Redskins defensive lineman.
Haynesworth’s participation was revealed when the team issued its nfl jerseys
injury report, long after practice had concluded. Coach Mike Shanahan did not mention Haynesworth’s injury in his post-practice remarks.
Haynesworth saw limited action as a backup in the Redskins’ season-opening win Sunday after months of disagreements with Shanahan over offseason workouts, practices and preseason playing time.
Safety Kareem Moore(notes) remains unable to practice Indianapolis Colts jersey
with a sprained right knee. Backup linebacker Perry Riley(notes) was limited with a sprained right foot.
SAN DIEGO (AP)—The Chargers have placed 17-year veteran long snapper David Binn(notes) on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, meaning he will miss the rest of the season.
Binn was a rookie in 1994, the only season the Chargers have reached the Super Bowl.
He was hurt in Monday night’s 21-14 loss to Kansas City.
Binn played in 256 of the last 257 regular-season games and Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
all 12 of its playoff games dating to 1994.
The Chargers signed James Dearth(notes) to replace Binn on the 53-man roster.

We heard all offseason that our running game wasn’t efficient

Minnesota Vikings jersey
Arian Foster(notes) put on quite a show last week. As a result, he’ll be looking to add to his NFL-leading rushing total Sunday.
Foster and the Texans take on the Washington Redskins with Houston nfl throwback jerseys
looking to go 2-0 for the second time in team history.
Foster rushed for a franchise-record 231 yards and three touchdowns as Houston defeated Indianapolis 34-24 last week. It was the Texans’ second win in 17 games against the Colts.
“We heard all offseason that our running game wasn’t efficient,” said Foster, an undrafted free agent. “You can either let it get to you, or let it get in you, and I feel like we let it get in us, and we used it.”
Foster’s performance allowed four-time Pro Bowl receiver Andre Johnson(notes) and quarterback Matt Schaub(notes) to have quiet days. Johnson had three receptions for 33 yards, while Schaub went 9 of 17 for 107 yards and a touchdown.
Schaub had no problem taking a back seat to the running game.
“I’ll take it every single week if that’s the outcome,” he said.
Tight end Owen Daniels(notes) returned after missing the Texans’ last eight games of 2009 with a torn ACL. He caught one pass for nine yards.
“He played 40 plays-plus. That’s probably a little more than we wanted him to play, but he felt good; he kept going,” coach Gary Kubiak told the Texans’ official website. “… His knee felt good. I think he’s only going to get better each week.”
The Texans were 2-0 in 2007, when they went on to finish 8-8.
Washington is also looking for a 2-0 start after defeating Dallas 13-7 last Sunday with the help of a negated touchdown on the last play. Tony Romo’s(notes) 13-yard pass to Roy Williams in the end zone was disallowed because tackle Alex Barron(notes) was whistled for holding linebacker Brian Orakpo(notes), giving Washington a victorious start in Minnesota Vikings jersey
its new era with quarterback McNabb and coach Mike Shanahan.
Now Shanahan would prefer some more scoring. Washington won last week without an offensive touchdown, with cornerback DeAngelo Hall’s(notes) return of a fumble recovery being the Redskins’ only TD.
“Hopefully, ‘Shanahan football’ will be scoring a few more points,” the coach said.
McNabb looked rusty at times, completing 15 of 32 passes for 171 yards. His 46.9 completion percentage was his lowest with at least 30 passing attempts since Sept. 9, 2007.
“There’s a new offensive scheme, new personnel, new coaching staff and just different concepts,” McNabb told the Redskins’ official website. “That was a change for me. I had to really focus, sit down and really put my nose to the playbook and make sure I knew what I was doing.”
McNabb came into the game listed as questionable after missing the last two weeks of the preseason with an ankle injury but made it through without issue.
“I think as time goes on with our system, he will be more comfortable with the system, more comfortable with the terminology,” Shanahan said. It just comes with playing the position.
“Obviously, he’s got a lot of game experience, but there is nothing like calling the plays and executing a different offense in the heat of battle. And in the first game I thought he did a good job.”
After butting heads with Shanahan in the preseason, defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth(notes) was not in the starting lineup and didn’t have much of an impact, participating in about 16 plays while recording one tackle.
“The situation is what it is,” he said. “I was on Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
nickel package. I did my job out there.”
Haynesworth suffered another setback Wednesday when he was limited in practice with an ankle injury. His status for Sunday is unclear.
Washington has won both meetings with Houston, taking the most recent meeting 31-15 at Reliant Stadium in 2006.

Botafogo climb with Sao Paulo win

Steelers jersey

Three points came courtesy of Washington (67) and Edno (80) and ensured Botafogo would go level with the pace-setters at the top if they win their game in hand.
Cruzeiro are third after a 2-1 away win football jerseys
at Avai. Roger opened the scoring with a 24th-minute penalty Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
and despite losing Marquinos to a 53rd-minute red card the visitors went further ahead through Thiago Ribeiro before Laercio pulled one back.
Marcelino Junior Mazola scored the only goal as Guarani defeated Atletico Paranaense. Manoel Obina scored for Atletico Mineiro as they beat Gremio Prudente.
Magno De Araujo and Geraldo hit the target and Indianapolis Colts jersey
Keirrison replied as Ceara surprised Santos 2-1, while Internacional drew 0-0 with rock bottom Goias.
Palmeiras and Vasco da Gama also played out a stalemate.

Eriksson considering Al Hilal offer, says agent

Steelers jersey

Having missed out the Aston Villa job, Sven-Goran Eriksson is considering an offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal, agent Athole Still told ESPNsoccernet.
Eriksson could replace Eric Gerets, who has been appointed as the nfl jerseys
new coach of Morocco, once Al Hilal's Asian Champions League campaign ends and reports suggest he has been offered a one-year deal worth £1.2 million.
Still told ESPNsoccernet: ''It's a definite possibility, but it is one of Dallas Cowboys jersey
three options. Sven is interested in the proposal from Saudi, and it's the biggest club out there.''
Former England boss Eriksson has been out of work since a disappointing World Cup with Ivory Coast. The Swede took control of Les Elephants after leaving his post as director of football with League Two side Notts County in February 2010.
Al Hilal have been crowned Saudi champions on 12 occasions and have two former Premier League players in their squad: ex-Bolton Wanderers midfielder Christian Wilhelmsson and the former Tottenham Hotspur full-back Lee Young-Pyo.
The Riyadh club play the first leg of Indianapolis Colts jersey
their Asian Champions League quarter-final against Qatar's Al Gharafa on September 15, but the final is not until November 13, so it could be two months before Eriksson takes charge.

Votto’s HR sends Reds over Pirates 5-4 in 10

Pittsburgh Steelers jersey

INCINNATI (AP)—Even Joey Votto(notes) had to stop and watch this one.
Votto led off the bottom of the 10th inning with his 33rd homer, sending the Cincinnati Reds to a 5-4 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday night that extended their NL Central lead to a daunting seven games and left the crowd chanting “MVP!”
Votto hit the fourth pitch from Justin Thomas(notes) (0-1) toward the stands in left-center, dropped his nfl throwback jerseys
bat and watched the first game-ending homer of his career.
“It was really cool,” Votto said.
After getting swamped by teammates at home plate, he took a curtain call for ending a back-and-forth game with one swing.
“Thank God for Joey Votto,” manager Dusty Baker said. “That was MVP stuff right there. That’s what people come to see. That’s what we’ve come to expect.”
Before the game, the Reds commemorated the 25th anniversary of Pete Rose’s record-setting hit No. 4,192 at Cinergy Field. The 69-year-old Rose got Major League Baseball’s permission to go on the field—otherwise prohibited under his lifetime ban for gambling—and step on first base while the crowd of 36,101 cheered.
Then, the Reds got a little closer to their first playoff appearance since 1995.
“Wow, wild game,” said Chris Heisey(notes), who tied it in the ninth with a double. “Sometimes you can’t describe it.”
Edinson Volquez(notes) dominated through seven innings, giving up only one single and fanning a season-high 10 before turning a 3-0 lead over to the Reds bullpen.
Neil Walker’s(notes) two-run single past hard-throwing Aroldis Chapman(notes) completed Pittsburgh’s rally to a 4-3 lead in the eighth. Joel Hanrahan(notes) blew the save chance, giving up Heisey’s tying double.
“We did some very nice things in that eighth inning,” manager John Russell said. “It was real exciting. The guys have been doing some good things. The next step is winning.”
Pittsburgh rarely does that on the road. The Pirates are 14-55 on the road this season, dropping 17 of their last 18.
Francisco Cordero(notes) (6-4) pitched a perfect 10th for the win.
They’re already talking playoffs in Cincinnati, and Volquez put himself in Minnesota Vikings jersey
the conversation with a dominating performance.
Baker has been trying to settle on a rotation with six currently healthy candidates. Right-hander Aaron Harang(notes) eliminated himself with two poor outings— he’s been moved to the bullpen.
Volquez returned in July after missing nearly a year because of reconstructive right elbow surgery. He was erratic and got sent to the minors on Aug. 31 to fix problems in his delivery. At that point, there was no telling whether he would be an integral part of the Reds’ late-September plans.
He was sharp with all his pitches against the NL’s worst team. Volquez gave up only one hit—Jose Tabata’s(notes) single that deflected off the end of shortstop Orlando Cabrera’s(notes) glove in the first inning.
“Volquez was really nasty,” Walker said.
Volquez had control of everything he threw, convincing the Reds that he’s back in form and belongs back in the rotation.
“When he does that, he’s about unhittable,” Baker said. “Volquez was masterful tonight. That’s the best he’s pitched since he’s been back.”
Walker’s single off Chapman extended his hitting streak to 17 games, the longest by a Pirates rookie since Rennie Stennett hit in 18 straight in 1971.
NOTES: Tabata’s single was his 100th hit. He and Walker are the first Indianapolis Colts jersey
Pirates rookies to have 100 hits in the same season since Jose Guillen(notes) and Tony Womack did it in 1997. … Heisey had a sore arm, leaving the Reds short-handed in the outfield. Miguel Cairo(notes) made his third career start in RF, his first since 2005. Heisey got into the game as a defensive replacement and wound up playing a pivotal role in the ninth-inning comeback.

Jones, Guthrie lead Orioles over Tigers, 5-3

Pittsburgh Steelers jersey

DETROIT (AP)—The Baltimore Orioles know that, at 32 games under .500, they are miles away from any kind of pennant race as the regular season enters its final weeks.
Still, for once, they feel like they have a reason to finish the season with more than a token effort
Saturday, Adam Jones(notes) had four hits and football jerseys
Jeremy Guthrie(notes) pitched seven shutout innings to help the Orioles beat the Detroit Tigers 5-3. Baltimore is now 23-14 since Buck Showalter took over as manager on Aug. 2.
“We finally feel like we’re getting better and taking some momentum into September,” Guthrie said. “We’re actually racing to the finish line instead of limping toward it like we’ve done in the past couple years.”
Brian Roberts(notes) and Felix Pie(notes) each added three hits for Baltimore, which clinched a win of the three-game series that concludes Sunday. Before this week, Baltimore had lost five straight at Comerica Park and 12 of its last 16.
“What this team is learning is that, if you play good baseball, you can win anywhere,” Showalter said. “That’s what I’ve told them—the teams that play deep into October are the teams that can win on the road. That’s what we will have to do in the years to come.”
Guthrie (10-13) gave up five hits—all in the first three innings—and one walk, striking out four. Guthrie has won his last three starts with an ERA of 0.81.
“He’s been a very solid pitcher, and that’s a big understatement,” Showalter said. “He’s the kind of starting pitcher you need if you want to compete in our division.”
Koji Uehara(notes) pitched the ninth for his ninth save and second in as many days.
Max Scherzer(notes) (10-10) allowed four runs on a career-high 12 hits in six innings, snapping a five-start unbeaten streak. Scherzer has allowed four runs in each of his last two starts after not allowing more than two in the previous seven.
“He was up in the zone a bit, and I don’t think his secondary stuff was as good as it has been,” Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. “He gave up some hits, but he still did a good job of keeping us in the game.”
The teams combined for eight hits in the first three innings, but Scherzer and Guthrie were able to pitch out of the jams.
“I didn’t have my best stuff tonight, but I battled with the bullets I had,” Guthrie said. “I gave up too many baserunners in the first few innings, but I was able to make some pitches when I needed them.”
The Orioles got three more hits in the fourth, loading the bases with one out, but Scherzer struck out Josh Bell(notes) and Cesar Izturis(notes) to end the inning.
Baltimore finally broke the tie with four runs in the sixth. Jones Pittsburgh Steelers jersey
led off with a double, took third on a wild pitch and scored on Pie’s two-base hit.
Bell followed with an infield single and Izturis made it 3-0 with a triple. Scherzer retired Roberts, but Ty Wigginton(notes) drove in Izturis with a long sacrifice fly.
“You look at the way Scherzer has been pitching—he’s one of the hottest guys in the American League right now,” Showalter said. “We were getting good at-bats against him, but he kept making enough pitches to get out of things. That’s why it was such a good sign that we took our time and found a way to put a bunch of hits together in the sixth.”
With Guthrie out of the game, though, Detroit rallied for three runs off Matt Albers(notes) in the eighth. Don Kelly(notes) started the rally with an RBI single and Jhonny Peralta(notes) followed with a two-run double before Albers retired Brandon Inge(notes) with the tying run on second.
Pie finished the scoring with an RBI single off Brad Thomas(notes) in the ninth.
“We just didn’t do enough offensively,” Leyland said. “We had the one spurt in the eighth, but we couldn’t get enough, and that add-on run in the ninth just killed us.”
NOTES: The start of the game was delayed 27 minutes by rain. … There was an odd moment during Baltimore’s big sixth inning when fans in the top row of the upper deck behind third base started tossing beach balls to nearby fans. About 20 balls were distributed, many getting as far as Indianapolis Colts jersey
the lower deck, before security guards were able to confiscate all of them. … Miguel Cabrera(notes) hit a sixth-inning grounder so hard that it deflected off Bell’s glove at third to Izturis 10 yards away quickly enough for an easy 5-6-3 putout. … Baltimore’s starters are 3-0 with five quality starts as Baltimore has gone 4-1 on its current roadtrip.
